How Fettle Post Started
Fettle Post started in a spare room above a launderette in Leeds, after our founder spent a whole Sunday trying to find a straight answer about why his knees had started clicking on the school run, and gave up after the fifth listicle promising a support fix. Most of what was out there online was either written for someone twenty years younger or dressed up to sell something.
So the idea was simple: hire people who can actually write, have them talk to GPs and read the public health guidance properly, and put a second editor on every piece before it goes anywhere near a reader. No products, no sponsored support fixes, just a small team trying to explain things clearly.
Years on, the launderette is gone but the habit stuck. Every article still gets checked against a source, every writer still uses their real name, and if we get something wrong, it gets corrected on the page rather than quietly buried.
Plain Language
We write the way people actually talk, not the way a textbook does. If a sentence needs re-reading twice, we rewrite it.
Reader First
Topics come from what readers actually ask, not what fills a content calendar. We'd rather run three good articles a fortnight than ten thin ones.
Open Corrections
We get things wrong sometimes, and we say so openly when we do. A correction note stays on the article so nothing gets quietly buried.
We don't publish anything until we've checked it against public health guidance and had a second person read it end to end.
